研究課題概要 Outline
The Kingdom of Bhutan has the third highest mortality rate from stomach cancer in the world. The majority of stomach cancer is caused by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, and it is believed that approximately half of the Bhutanese population is infected with this bacterium. Intending to eliminate H. pylori infection and H. pylori-related deaths such as gastric cancer, we plan to establish rapid diagnosis kits for H. pylori infection to understand the prevalence and reduce the circulation of antimicrobial resistance. Second, we will improve the endoscopic techniques necessary to treat gastric cancer through a train-the-trainer program and online endoscopic training. Ultimately, the culmination of these will be a national survey of H. pylori to be achieved.
